Digital Production Studio Clubhouse Director

Position Summary:
The mission of The Digital Production Studio is to provide youth with the opportunity to build self-confidence and interpersonal skills, by learning how to compose and record music. The Clubhouse Director will create a fun and exciting environment, teaching youth and teens beat-making, composition, songwriting, and music production. This role is both an effective leader of the Digital Production Studio Clubhouse program AND a key member of the staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Together with the Supervisor create/revise programming with clearly-defined activities and realistic, measurable outcomes.

Conduct outreach and recruitment within the organization’s other programs and broader community throughout the year as necessary.

Lead weekly schedule of fun, exciting, music instructional activities with small groups of youth, many with no previous musical experience.

Program & supervise daily drop-in times.

Collaborate with partners including Music & Youth to develop and implement Music Programs

Meet with participant parents and provide them with opportunities to learn more about the program.

Create and implement regular showcase opportunities for Digital Production Studio Clubhouse youth and coach youth to perform with confidence.

With other youth development staff, integrate the program and youth into annual signature events.

Identify a core group of teens to serve as "All Stars" (Members will receive advanced music and leadership training and serve as mentors to younger youth and peers).

With Supervisor, develop and implement Member evaluation to determine Member skills development and satisfaction with the program.

Supervise and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.

Coordinate volunteers and consultants who can offer related instruction, support and guidance to members.

Assessing impact is critical to the organization’s work. All staff are expected to participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey.

Orient, train and supervise department staff (including work-study students, minor youth employees, and volunteers). Provide annual performance evaluations for applicable staff in a timely manner.

Secure, maintain and monitor budget, materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s). Maintain a safe and clean program area(s).

Participate in individual and group supervision sessions; participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate.

Travel between sites and to activities as needed.
Other Duties:

Attendance and active participation in organization-wide meetings, programs and events.

Assist the organization (as needed) in the audio/visual needs for organization programs, initiatives and/or events.

Perform other assignments as designated by Leadership in order to facilitate the most effective service to members, program participants, and the community.

Attendance and participation in Music & Youth Initiative programs, special events, professional development and reporting.

Position Requirements:
-
Enthusiasm about, and advanced knowledge of, DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) and controllers (MPKs, MPCs, Midi controllers), song structure, beatmaking, composition, and recording.

Previous experience developing and implementing programs for youth

Previous supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:

Flexible and creative self-starter - demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial and work through obstacles.

“Hands-On” mentality - candidates should be willing to work directly with kids, teachers and program partners.

Team oriented - ability to cultivate relationships and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

General knowledge of the music business/industry, including digital/social media. Including an advanced and proven understanding of music production and recording

Must be able to read and analyze music

Demonstrated ability to utilize music technology, computers, MS Office products and web competency.

Advanced intercultural awareness and experience working in multicultural environments.

Ability to relate to culturally diverse group of teens and pre-teens as an instructor and mentor
-
Relevant experience in social work is a plus.

Effectively communicate with teens.
-
Must be or become CPR / FA certified.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexibility to work Clubhouse hours especially as seasons and service needs change.

The hiring organization is one of Music & Youth Initiative’s partner organizations. Music & Youth will refer candidates to the Youth Development Organization who will make the final hiring decision and will directly employ and manage the Clubhouse Director.

Valid driver’s license required.
